Early life and education

Hashmi was born in 1985. His parents had migrated to Pakistan from India in 1984, and none of his maternal relatives reside in Pakistan. During the 1990s, he frequently traveled to India. His sisters later became American nationals. [1]

Hashmi attended an all-boys school, graduating in 2000, and did not attend college before entering university. He completed his intermediate education in 2001 or 2002. After failing his second-year intermediate mathematics examination, he retook the exam and scored 97 out of 100 marks on his third attempt. [1]

While at university, Hashmi took up public speaking, participating in the activity for four years. He competed in approximately 110 public speaking competitions, winning first prize in 73 of them. He did not write down the speeches he delivered. He also qualified for the MISE program based in Denmark. [1]

Corporate career

Hashmi entered the corporate sector after receiving a job offer from a company, working as an assistant manager at age 22 or 23. He spent four years working at 3M, which he considered to be probably his best employer. [1]

He was later hired by a company to establish an operations and global supply chain desk, and subsequently served as global supply chain director. For his United States supply chain role, he built a 35-person team in Pakistan. As a global group head of supply chain, he designed operations and supply chains for technology ventures, including Global Surf, a venture of Arpatech. He later left this supply chain role to join TCS, where he oversaw operations and service scaling for two and a half years. [1]

Comedy and media career

In 2008 and 2009, Hashmi hosted, moderated, and performed stand-up comedy at various events. He performed paid stand-up comedy routines at Arts Council drama events and charged fees to perform stand-up comedy during plays staged by IBA graduates. Upon the encouragement of friends, he resumed performing stand-up comedy gigs in 2015. [1]

Digital platform Nashpati Prime approached Hashmi over an extended period while he was working at a job. He recorded the first episode of the show TBH with guest Ayesha Omar, which was released thirteen months later. Hashmi subsequently returned for twelve days and recorded twelve episodes within a four-day span, routinely recording four episodes in a single day. He later quit the show TBH. In addition to his hosting work, Hashmi appeared in a television advertisement for Express Power. [1]

Views and comedy style

Hashmi enjoys performing on stage and looks forward to his stand-up comedy appearances. He does not write down his comedy material or speeches, and he believes stand-up comedians develop through repeated stage performance rather than classroom training. In his work, he avoids social commentary and extensive focus on social issues. He has stated that if watched by the masses, he aims to serve as an ambassador for accepting differences of opinion. [1]
