What the archive records
Abdul Razak Dawood is the founder of DESCON, an engineering and construction group operating across Pakistan, the Gulf, and South Africa. Born in a Memon village in Kathiawar before partition, he studied mining engineering at Newcastle and took an MBA at Columbia University, ran the family's Lawrencepur woolen mill and Dawood Hercules fertilizer business, and later co-founded LUMS with Syed Babar Ali. He served as Adviser on Commerce to Prime Minister Imran Khan, and now runs the BARD Foundation.
